For Aspiring Young Players

“Have faith in yourself. Have belief in yourself that you can make it happen. Know that you are growing in many ways. You may not always see it, but you are. Be open to feedback. Drop that veil of emotion so you can see what the teaching is and apply it. Have a game plan: Today I’m doing this, tomorrow I’m doing this. Know what your dream is but stay present in the journey.”

Ask for help. Don’t be scared to ask for help.

Soccer and Community

“One of my goals is to use the platform that soccer has given me to help others. I think carrying my people on this journey with me…[and] making sure that they get some light…is important…People are doing some really dope stuff to support the whole community. My big [goals] are helping support, restore, inspire, shine light on the community and its dope people.”

Thoughts and Reflections from Oakland Genesis

We hope everyone enjoyed our second question and answer session, this time with Robert Hines II. We are grateful to Robert for sharing his passions, his perspective, and his infectious energy. Always a huge thanks again to Leah Morales, whose openness and curiosity keeps the forum interesting and exciting.

For us at Oakland Genesis, this session reinforced our feeling about the importance of listening to each other. All of our experiences are unique and our stories are what make us rich.
